Emergency Fire & Water Damage Response

When a fire broke out in a Dublin apartment, it was essential that the affected areas were cleaned as quickly as possible to prevent further damage and minimise disruption, that's where IDS Facility Services came in.

The Challenge

On 13th August 2026, a fire broke out in a Property Management's apartments in Dublin 1.

Once the fire service had extinguished the blaze, significant amounts of water remained throughout the property, alongside smoke residue and debris.

With other tenants living in the building, it was essential that the affected areas were made safe as quickly as possible to prevent further damage and minimise disruption. The property was also without electricity, making the clean-up more challenging as work continued into the evening.

IDS Facilities Services received the emergency call and mobilised immediately. Within less than one hour, a fully equipped van and two experienced industrial cleaning operatives arrived on site.

Led by our Industrial Cleaning Manager, the response team included an Industrial Team Supervisor, and an Industrial Cleaning Operative.

The team immediately began extracting standing water using industrial wet vacuum equipment before carrying out a comprehensive clean of the affected areas. Smoke residue was removed from walls and surfaces, while corridors were cleaned and buffed to restore a safe, presentable finish for residents.

Despite working in dark conditions without power and dealing with the strong smell of smoke, the team completed the clean-up efficiently and professionally.

By responding so quickly, IDS Facilities Services prevented additional water damage and restored safe access for residents within a short timeframe.

The rapid extraction of water reduced the risk of long-term damage to flooring, while thorough smoke residue cleaning helped return the communal areas to a clean and safe condition.

The project demonstrated the importance of having a trusted emergency response partner who can mobilise at short notice and deliver high-quality results when every minute counts.
